Club News
• Volunteers for the PPMG’s are needed for the Archery competition that we host (7/8th Nov). The PPMG organisers are giving us 16 shirts for volunteers. If you know you can contribute (and take a task or two) then there’s at least a feed & a free shirt in it for you! Please consider. Shirt sizes need to be locked in by 8th of July. 👕🙏🫶🤝👏
• 🙏🙏Help Needed🙏🙏 Martin Lau HAS stepped away from the club. He is the awesome bloke who managed the coaching/open/closing roster & email reminders for the Come & Try classes. We need someone to take over these vital tasks. They are not onerous, nor time consuming, but they are regular, ongoing, & very important to the club. If you have some time you can commit, please consider helping out by taking on these tasks. See David or Martin for more. 🙏🙏🙏
• Sending Ellen & Liezel to the World Archery Field Championships in Yankton, USA in September. The girls both have donation links available to help get them there. It’s not a cheap endeavour at all. If you can, please consider donating (tax deductible!) via the links below:

• Club AGM & Elections - The End-of-Financial Year is the signal for us to send out the AGM notice & Call for Nominations to our financial members. Get your nominations & motions ready to send in. See the notice for more details. Save the date: 26th of September.
• Please welcome our newest, fully approved club members: 👏👏

Etiquette
Last one shooting on a target? Congratulations, you have won putting the target back in the shed, even if you didn’t take it out. Using a club chair prior to departing? Again, we thank you for putting it away.
“Alternative” Archery Facts
Some people don’t like Archery because it has a lot of draw backs.
Tip of the Week
At full draw we want the archer’s body to be upright. That is, we do not want the archer to be leaning back, away from the target, as that will result in the bow arm shoulder being too high. If necessary to get this right, start with more of your weight on the foot towards the target and lean a little towards the target prior to drawing the arrow.
Safety Tip
🏹 Stringing your bow 🏹
Compound bow archers have to use a bow-press when working with their strings & cables.
The rest of us all have to string and de-string our bows before & after use. The club recommends you either use the bow-stringing posts (top of the stairs, corner of the undercroft, several places along the covered shooting structure, or between the main & gear sheds) or the use of a suitable dedicated bow-stringer device. Every non-compound archer should carry a bow stringer suitable for their bow with them at all times. It may be quicker & easier to use some of the techniques to string & de-string your bow using your legs or feet/ground etc, but doing so not only risks damage to your bow, but also the real risk of serious injury to yourself or bystanders. Therefore, the club does not recommend you string/de-string your bow without the aid of the appropriate tools. Using a $5+ bow-stringer can potentially save you a lot of heartache.
If you are unsure of how to use the posts or a bow-stringer, please feel free to ask for help.
