Championship Tournaments

Entries for the SQAS Field Championships 17 & 18 May 2025 to be held at Lismore close on 7 May.

SQAS Target Championships 14 & 15 June 2025 to be held at Samford. Entries close on 4 June.

Etiquette

If you’ve hired or used a club bow, please ensure you unstring the bow before putting it in the shed. Recurve limbs, under tension, in an unventilated shed equals a Sad Panda.

“Alternative” Archery Facts - Not all who wander are lost. Some are looking for arrows.

Tip of the Week.

Check that your brace height is still the same as when you recorded it last. (You have documented it, right?)  Recurve & Longbow strings have a nasty habit of changing their number of twists when you string & unstring your bow. Just a few twists can significantly change your bow’s characteristics and change where your arrows land.

Safety Tip

🏃💨 No running 🏃💨

As a child, you were told & learnt to never run with scissors; Arrows are just as bad. So don’t. Unlike scissors, arrows also like to embed themselves in targets at face height, and love pointing out of the ground at optimal angles for injury. That’s all before we get to tripping hazards etc. The sport of Target Archery is not a race, there is no need to run, jog, or even power walk. The DOS will always wait for you to get behind the line safely.

To quote a very experienced SQAS archer: “Take your time; Be quick about it!”.
