Hey fellow Worker-Bees,
If you've been keeping an eye on the Newsletter, you'll have seen we have two Working Bees this weekend.
The first one (Saturday Morning - 9am-12:30pm) will be focusing on:
  1. Club Arrow building & repair. (Most important)
We have over a hundred new arrows to make and fletch etc.
If you ever wanted to learn how to repair your own arrows, now is your chance. Practice on club arrows before you attempt your own.
If you've got a fletching jig, please think about bringing it along.
We need the arrows done before next week's Come & Try class.
We will do this up at the club house (with aircon) if it looks like being too hot).
  2. Target Butt Maintenance. (Less important)
For those not interested in learning how to or making arrows, we will be doing some maintenance on our target butts (Repair/Replace number frames, replace target centres, and fit out some new target frames.)
Tools: Handsaw, electric drill/driver, circular saw etc.
  3. Clear the culvert pipe at the driveway entrance. (Least important)
The gutter/drain/pipe/thingy that goes under the driveway near the road has a blockage in the absolute middle of it. When it rains heavily, water overflows and then runs down into our car park causing erosion & rutts. We need that fixed. So bring some very long pieces of wood, hooks, metal poles etc to see if we can clear it out.
The following day (Sunday) will see us have an external workman and a few committee folk on-site with a mini-excavator-thing and some compressor/vibrator tools to dig up & put down a new ground surface at the "Come & Try" end of the archery field. Don & Brian will be supervising/assisting with this. I'm sure more folks are welcome too. More details about this tomorrow.
Tools: Shovels, gloves, wheelbarrows, etc.

Reward:
Besides it being good for the soul & the club, learn a few things, plus a sense of accomplishment, you get free drinks & food from the club during the working bee(s), and a free ground-fees credit for your next visit (per day).

We won't need to close all of the field and use all the target butts etc, so we should be able to have archery practice available during the working-bee for people who are not helping.
