Club News

• Please take note of the special Safety Tip below. Ie. The club house door will be closed by default for at least a while. Key available down at the sign-in area. A special open committee meeting was hastily arranged on Thursday at the club to address the issue(s). 😟

• Congratulations to one of our extraordinary youth members (Ruth Chamberlain), who was awarded Kenmore State School’s “The Scott Pegg Memorial Sports Award”. (photos) If you’ve ever shot with or met Ruth, you easily know why she won it. On ya Ruthie! 🏆

• Help us throw some shade! Please consider filling this survey out so we can win a custom marquee from our State MP (Jess Pugh) - https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/marquee-on-me 🎪

• It’s rostering time again. If you can or can’t help out, please let mar...@centenaryarchers.org.au know so he can populate the roster. More hands means less work! ✋

High Tea on the High CACs: In case you haven’t noticed, we’ve reintroduced a neglected club tradition; we’re a social bunch. Phil, Ross, & Sandy kicked it off a few months ago, and it has rapidly expanded; in size, delicacies, & sophistication. All are welcome to join, & all ages too.🍵🍪

• Please welcome our newest, fully approved club member: (60+) David Reddrop 👏

Etiquette

When returning the club’s hire gear, if it is damaged, please put the gear in the appropriate spot, so that we know it needs to be repaired. Putting damaged arrows or partial sets of arrows in with the “good” arrows causes confusion when we are trying to kit up archers for the Come-n-Try classes. Ditto for the club bows, if something is wrong with it, put it up on the top left rack which is labelled for repairs. Better still, repair the item first, & if you don’t know how, we will gladly teach you.

“Alternative” Archery Facts

Why do archers like soft cheeses? Because we like to shoot the Bries.

Tip of the Week.

📆📅🗓 Is the club open today?! 📆📅🗓

Ever wanted to have easy access to all the club’s event times right on your phone &/or computer? Well, now you can! The club has a page on our website for all of the club’s calendar/event information. On the website, you can see an entire year-at-a-glance view, or just what is coming up in the next few weeks, or better still, you can subscribe to the club’s electronic calendar so they automatically update & show in your own electronic device’s calendar (outlook, iphone/ipad, gmail/android).

Safety Tip

🚪 Clubhouse door to be closed by default 🔐

In the last week, we have had two incidents at the clubhouse. They have involved less-savoury members of the public stealing items and approaching club members making them feel quite uncomfortable. The police have been contacted about both incidents. If you experience something like this, please let us know. In the meantime, we are going to be implementing some extra, hopefully temporary, measures to help enhance member safety:

1. The (rear) door of the club house should be closed by default. We have a key fob attached to a wooden block that will be kept near the sign-in & payment terminal. That should allow any member access to the club house & the toilets. We also suggest closing the external door behind you, just in case. If you are a club regular, see David so we can set you up with alternative access to the club house via the smart lock. We hope this will deter the unknown people from hanging around.

2. We would ask that any child or anyone who feels vulnerable, be escorted up to the club house when using the toilets etc. e.g. At least two people go up. Please be considerate by helping out these individuals.

3. As one of the incidents happened in the evening when closing up the club, we would like to suggest that there are always at least two adults around when closing up near the club house. To further reduce risk, we would suggest if you are going to be closing the club up in the evening, that you park down on the main field so you are in a well-lit area.

Hopefully, they will get the idea & move on, so we can return things to normal. Obviously, if you don’t feel safe etc, please let someone on the committee know. eg. Brian. Please document any times, photos, or details you easily can. For heaven's sake, don’t worry about locking up etc if you feel threatened. Just get out of there!. Safety first, always!
