If we don’t get more we will cancel this and similar nighttime shoots. ☹️

Etiquette
Talking & making noise on the shooting line is frowned upon, especially during competitions. While it is common for archers shooting socially to talk on & off the shooting line, it is a luxury, not a privilege. Please be mindful of other archers who may be put off by the noise or the conversation topics.
If someone is making noise while you’re trying to shoot; Just ask them to stop.
If that makes you feel uncomfortable or they don’t stop; Speak to a DOS/Judge.
If someone asks you to be quiet while they shoot; Please respect their wishes.
“Alternative” Archery Facts
The “Advanced Barebow” archery class has a chapter on “How to repair target butt frames”.
Tip of the Week.
🔍👀 The Metal Detector 🔉🔊
Losing an arrow is easy to do. Finding them, not so much. Especially with longer grass. For this reason, the club has a metal detector located just inside the target shed, on the left wall. It goes by many names: The Minesweeper, The Wand of Shame, The +5 Wand of Recovery, etc.. Don’t waste effort just visually looking for an arrow after the end in which it was lost. Go directly to the metal detector. For optimal usage:
• Ensure all the dials & switches are set to their respective “gold” location marks.
• The “loop” is parallel to & as close as possible to the ground as you swing it.
• The cable is snuggly plugged in all the way into the control box.
• Test it detects one of your arrows before proceeding.
• Take small steps (~20cm) and complete a wide swing arc per step.
• Turn it off between ends. Setting the Sensitivity knob to its lowest setting turns it off.
• Ask a barebow archer for help. They have lots of experience with losing & finding arrows.
Safety Tip
🏃💨 No running 🏃💨
As a child, you were told & learnt to never run with scissors; Arrows are just as bad. So don’t. Unlike scissors, arrows also like to embed themselves in targets at face height, and love pointing out of the ground at optimal angles for injury. That’s all before we get to tripping hazards etc. The sport of Target Archery is not a race, there is no need to run, jog, or even power walk. The DOS will always wait for you to get behind the line safely.
To quote a very experienced SQAS archer: “Take your time; Be quick about it!”.
