Club News
• Volunteer of the Week: Pierre Roux, you’ve probably all met him at some stage, our stocky Bearded Ex-South African, not only is he a regular at the club (competitive & social), dispensing his archery knowledge as one of our longest Level 2 coaches, he’s a bloke who always chips in at our Working Bees doing the hard yakka; He’s also a full National Judge; Our resident Field Archery fanboi, and in his spare time (ha!) leads a free more-advanced bow-tuning and Compound training sessions on a lot of Sundays. On ya Pierre! 👏👏
• Merch Alert - The order window for our club shirts is now open, get your orders in by 21 Sep! 👕
• New Club Stairs - The council has finished its refurbishment of our club house doors, and that means our new (field-side) stairs are completed too. Thanks BCC! 🚪

In addition to the positions listed in our constitution, the club has a bunch of other positions that are available & required to keep the club running smoothly. Please consider volunteering for one of them, if a role on the management committee appears too much of a commitment to you.
“Alternative” Archery Facts
As the archery zodiac leaves the Element of Easton and transitions to the House of Hoyt, the Archery Gods™ will be guiding carbon arrows towards stray bits of metal on the target butts whenever most impractical; Aluminium arrows will be exempt, unless of course your shooting stance has an even number of millimetres between your feet.; If you are shooting at a competition, there will be an error on your scoresheet: If you’re lucky, you’ll find it. If you are very lucky, no one will. Due to unusual solar activity, left handed archers will have a slight advantage but only on days with two vowels.
Tip of the Week.
💂 Fortunately, good posture - like poor posture - is habit forming 💂
When you’re at full draw, left-to-right, your body should be centred above your legs. Your legs should be vertical, yet spread, so that they are roughly a shoulder width apart. Your upper body should be slightly leaning forward toward the next archer (up to 15° max). This will give your bow clearance from your body. It will also result in an approximately ideal 60:40 weight distribution to the balls of your feet. Don’t bend only at the hips as this will make your rear end stick out and prevent you from having a straight back when shooting.
When you start your draw, it is acceptable to have a slight lean toward the target, but when at full draw/release, you should not be leaning toward or away from the target. Any lean in relation to the target often results in incorrect shoulder alignment (to high or low) which can cause significant health problems later in your archery career. Posture is free, so practise it!
Safety Tip
✂🐑 Click go the ShearsNocks boys; click, click, click! ✂🐑
When you nock your arrow to the bow string, if you don’t hear a click sound, Stop! Don’t shoot. Your arrow nock is probably damaged, or too loose. Check it for damage or just replace it. If all of your arrows no longer click when nocked, you should check the serving on the bow string. It may need repair/replacement. No click means that your arrow may fall off the string, potentially causing you to dry-fire your bow. No one wants that! So, always listen and feel for that click on each and every arrow.
