• We need many volunteers for manning the inflatable archery range at the Darra Festival (Sun 25th), please let us know if you can donate an hour or two of your time. 🙏🙏
• 🎽CLUB SHIRTS👕 - The order window closes TONIGHT! Get your orders in!
• The next L1 instructor/coach course is coming up soon on the 21st of June. If you have been an archer for about a year, please consider it. a) It's very rewarding. b) You’ll learn more stuff about archery, & c) You’ll be helping out the club MASSIVELY by assisting in our Come & Try classes. Plus, there are perks for being an instructor at our club! Let us know if you’re interested. 🎓🏹
• We will be trialing a new morning round of OzBow on the Sat 7th for those morning people.🌄🎯

Etiquette
A little appreciation goes a long way for some of the more thankless tasks & roles around the club. Special mention this week goes to Lindsay Roux whose work includes running the Youth Squad, one of our L2 coaches, club Vice President, Archer Chauffeur, one of our liaisons with SQAS & AQ, SQAS Youth coordinator, Member Protection Officer, and probably a zillion other things I’ve forgotten to mention. Well done Lindsay! Keep it up. Give her a big “Thanks!” when you see her; Maybe even some chocolate too!
“Alternative” Archery Facts
Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result.
Archery: Trying to do the same thing over and over expecting a consistent result.
Tip of the Week.
🛋 Don’t be a coach potato! 🥔
Want some free expert archery help? All you have to do is ask! Our club has nine (9) Level 2 & thirteen (13) Level 1 Coaches. Under AA policy, only Level 2 (or higher) coaches are allowed to provide 1-on-1 archery coaching. L1’s technically can only provide entry-level advice. You can find photos & names of our L2 coaches on the club noticeboard. When available, we also have a dedicated coaching lane with signs, so keep an eye out for that. In short, most of our coaches would love to offer you free advice & help aspiring archers. If you want their help, the etiquette is to politely ask first, and if they are not busy, they then might spend a few minutes with you & give you some advice and some area to practise on. They typically won’t have spare resources to spend extended time with you, so don’t expect that. If you want more structured coaching, speak to our club’s Head Coach, Rob Connell. He may be able to personally take you under his wing, or direct you to another coach who has the time, specialist knowledge, & experience you might require.
Our L2 Coaches are: Alex, Bron, Lindsay, Mark, Michael, Pierre, Rob, Sal, & Sandy. (none bite!)
Safety Tip
🏃💨 No running 🏃💨
As a child, you were told & learnt to never run with scissors; Arrows are just as bad. So don’t. Unlike scissors, arrows also like to embed themselves in targets at face height, and love pointing out of the ground at optimal angles for injury. That’s all before we get to tripping hazards etc. The sport of Target Archery is not a race, there is no need to run, jog, or even power walk. The DOS will always wait for you to get behind the line safely.
To quote a very experienced SQAS archer: “Take your time; Be quick about it!”.
