09:00-10:00 🥚Egg hunt 4: A New Jackalope! 🥚
Evil bunnies have secreted their foil-wrapped chocolate eggs in & around the club.
They need to be found quickly before they hatch, melt, &/or explode.
Kids (Archers or not) & Chocoholic archers of all ages are welcome.
10:00-11:00 Chocolate Bunny Firing Downsizing Squad.🐇🎯
The evil bunnies have been found guilty of being too delicious. They have chosen trial by combat
for their eggs-ecution. Don’t use your finest arrows, or wear white. Wink wink. The title of
Bunnybane is up for grabs again.
11:00 to 11:30 The Holy Clout of Antioch.🐇💣🤯
The Killer (Chocolate) Rabbit of Caerbannog has appeared. Archers will then lobbest thou thy Holy
Arrows of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in our sights, shall snuff it.
Club New
• 💗Volunteer of the Week💗 Sandra Lowe for taking home a bunch of club arrows & fixing them!
• Help Wanted Our current Club Treasurer (Don) has developed a medical issue that is preventing him from completing his duties as Treasurer. He’s looking to step down. The club needs to have someone in the role of Treasurer, hence we are asking for volunteers. If you can help out, please let us know ASAP. 🙏🏦💴💶💷🏦📿
• Help Wanted #2 Due to work commitments, ChrisK needs to step back from organising the Saturday club-level comps. Anyone willing to lend a hand to take this on?
• Saturday saw our first cross-session place-getters for the (March) Monthly Medal competition. Without further ado; 🥉Sarah Denman (1.8)🥈Ellen Martini (2.0) 🕷Bronwyn Healing, winner winner chicken dinner🥇Darren Johnston (5.0) 👏
• We also celebrated Life Member Phil Buhot’s 80th (& not out!) birthday. The Buhot’s put on a great spread for everyone. Thanks Phil & co. When you see Phil, give him your best wishes! 🎂
• Caution: Please put tools away immediately after use. Especially if they are sharp or dangerous. Case in point, someone left out our rather vicious looking cooking knife. It was partially covered with stuff. Someone could have easily been hurt. It’s hard(er) to shoot if you’re bleeding! 🩸🗡
• Please welcome our newest, fully approved club member: 👏👏
(Open) Nyiriak Thuma & (50+) Glen Finucane
Etiquette
The Come & Try (CnT) classes at the club take priority over the archery field. This is to enable them to shoot as needed & safely, and to suit the instructors & course presentation. We open the field on those mornings to our members with those pre-conditions in mind. e.g. Youth Squad & Coaching etc. General archery is typically permitted after 11am when a CnT is on, as by then we have typically got the students up to the point of shooting normal length ends by then.
What this means practically to our members is, when you see the CnT’s shooting line thinning out or finishing, please stop shooting. The CnT DoS may signal you to stop shooting when the CnT class has finished shooting. Please also limit the time looking for lost arrows during the class, so we can resume shooting for the class faster.
“Alternative” Archery Facts Archery: It’s the best kind of Group Therapy.
Tip of the Week.
👶 Newbies & Archery Gear 🏹
Finished a Come & Try or Beginners Course, and joined the club? Want to get your own gear? Unfortunately, there is no simple single recipe to follow. However, we have a guide for beginners on gear purchases & choices. It’s too long to list here.
For most beginners, we recommend using hire gear for a few months. See the guide for why. For new archers that just know that this is the sport for them, then by all means buy your own good gear from the start. Just know that you will outgrow & replace some of it really quickly. Again, that’s all listed in the guide.
Safety Tip
🐄 Tipping Target Butts 🎯
No, you don’t need to remunerate your target! You do however need to exercise caution when moving them. Always remove any arrows from the target prior to moving them. If it tips with them in, they will all snap.
If the target does tip over, it is NOT a one person job to remedy that. Always get help from someone else. One adult should pull on the handle, and chock one of the wheels with their foot, whilst the other adult lifts the top of the target butt.
Don’t be afraid to ask for assistance moving a target. They are heavy & tricky!
