Club News

β€’ Volunteer of the Week: Rob Connell - for doing an unsolicited clean up the target container shed on Saturday Morning. On ya Rob, you serial workaholic, you! Let’s see if we can keep it tidy.

P.S. You don’t need to be a life member to help clean up. It’s welcome any/all of the time. 🧹🧹

β€’ Pierre Roux will be standing down from the Management Committee at the end of this month. We all thank him for his contributions over his tenure. His departure means we now have a (casual) vacancy available on the committee for anyone interested. If you are, please let us know. πŸ‘βœ‹

β€’ We have over 7 club members who will be undertaking the basic-level (L1) coaching course in February. That’s the biggest contingent our club has ever sent. We almost filled up the entire class with just our members! Here is thanks to our future Come & Try instructors! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

β€’ Reminder: We’ve had at least two (2) cases of mild-to-significant heat exhaustion at the club in the last few months. The most recent incident didn’t even happen on a very hot day & with a relatively fit, healthy, young, experienced archer. Always always keep hydrated, wear a hat, & shoot from the shade when you can during these warmer months. If you start feeling off, stop & say something. You don’t need to be macho, & you’re not a bother. Safety & Health first! 🌞🚰πŸͺ

β€’ Thursday afternoon/End of Month professional ($) coaching program with Marcus Anear (L3 AA coach) will be recommencing as of February. See the recent email for more details. πŸŽ“

β€’ On a geological dig on Saturday, we found one of Chris Kerslake’s early arrows. We know it was his because it had his initials on it. Hint: Label your arrows TODAY! βœπŸ·β‡Άβ‡Ά

β€’ The regular Club comps, including OzBow, will be recommencing in February. They should appear in Archer’s Diary soon. πŸ“…πŸŽ―

β€’ When arriving at the club, before you unpack your archery gear, you NEED to sign in & pay any fees due. That applies to everyone, yes, even to David (😲). No excuses! ✍

Etiquette

Please remember to sign-in via the club’s QR code when you first get to the club, and remember to always pay your ground fees. Doing this is required to cover us all by insurance. Of course, you can always skip the latter if you purchase an Annual Ground Fee.

β€œAlternative” Archery Facts

If you leave your arrows undisturbed buried in the ground long enough, they will eventually grow & multiply. Note: Your experience may will vary.

Tip of the Week.

πŸ“†πŸ“…πŸ—“ Is the club open today?! πŸ“†πŸ“…πŸ—“

Ever wanted to have easy access to all the club’s event times right on your phone &/or computer? Well, you can! The club has a page on our website for all of the club’s calendar/event information. On the website, you can see an entire year-at-a-glance view, or just what is coming up in the next few weeks, or better still, you can subscribe to the club’s electronic calendar so they automatically update & show in your own electronic device’s calendar (outlook, iphone/ipad, gmail/android).

Safety Tip

πŸ„ Tipping Target Butts 🎯

No, you don’t need to remunerate your target! You do however need to exercise caution when moving them. Always remove any arrows from the target prior to moving them. If it tips with them in, they will all snap.

If the target does tip over, it is NOT a one person job to remedy that. Always get help from someone else. One adult should pull on the handle, and chock one of the wheels with their foot, whilst the other adult lifts the top of the target butt.

Don’t be afraid to ask for assistance moving a target. They are heavy & tricky!
