Club News

BUMPER STICKERS - there’s a limited number of CAC bumper stickers promoting our Come & Try sessions. They look great on car rear windows, & help to get the word around. Ask Jim or David for one. Here’s a demonstration of sticking them on - clean it first!

[Robin Hood Alert] Heming Ren is having an amazing weekend. He shot a true Robin Hood at 50m! Amazeballs! Who said Horsebows can’t be accurate?! 😍 ↠ 👏😲

• Well done to all the Club members (& Parents) who helped out with the Archery Stall at the Darra Festival. An uncountable amount of kids & adults shot zillions of arrows for the first time. Thanks to all involved. e.g. Bernd, David, Ellen, Emma, James, Hayden, Kate, Sal, Sam, Sandy, & Sanne. 💓

• We will be trialing a new morning round of OzBow on the Sat 7th for those morning people.🌄🎯

• We wish all the best to our Master archers (Bronwyn, Darren, Emma, & Michael) competing in Taipei, Taiwan at the World Masters Games 2025. (Live Info) (Youtube) 🏅🤞🤞🤞🤞

Results are in for our Speed Shooting Experiment/Competition. All hail 👑Heming Ren! He shot at a blistering pace of 1.38 seconds per arrow! Yes, we will be doing this again! Such Fun! 🎯💨

• Please welcome our newest, fully approved club members: 👏👏👏👏👏

(U14) Emmie Schafer, Mila Patterson, & Tenzin Losel

(Open) Jack Anderson, & Matt Schafer

Championship Tournaments

SQAS Target Championships 14 & 15 June 2025 to be held at Samford. Entries close on 4 June.

MPB has a QRE on Saturday June 28th. Entries close at 10pm Tuesday June 24th.

Etiquette

If no-one shows up within one (1) hour of opening time, then the person who’s meant to open up the club can close up and go home. I.e. Archery is done for the day.

For example: It’s raining heavily & the club opens for “General Archery” at 10am, if no-one arrives by 11am, the person opening the club up for archery may optionally close.

“Alternative” Archery Facts

Ever tried blindfolded archery? If not, you don’t know what you’re missing!

Tip of the Week.

  • Shooting regularly is key to maintaining & improving your archery skills. Make shooting on the weekend a regular habit.

  • One of the fastest ways to improve your archery is to shoot more frequently. Consider attending the Sunday shoots.

  • Whilst shooting lots of arrows in a session can help build muscles & stamina etc., doing “quality” arrows (where you focus 100% etc) is often better than many more “poor” arrows (where you don’t really focus too much).

Safety Tip

🎯🏹 Director of Shooting (DOS) 🦘🔔

You know them as “The person with the whistle”, or “Chief Skippy Chaser”. However this job requires more than being able to occasionally count to three (3) and herding kangaroos.

The first step to becoming a DOS at our club is to complete the free self-paced online Club Official training course provided by Archery Australia. Completing this course not only earns you a nice certificate, it improves your archery knowledge, & most importantly helps keep yourself & fellow archers safe. Thus it is open to, available to, and recommended to all of our archers.
