Club News

• Super Congratulations to our team at the 🗺World Masters Games in Taipei. 🌏
🥇Michael Schilling 60+ Male Recurve (presentation);  4th Bronwyn Healing 50+ Female Recurve, 🥇Michael Schilling/Emma Crouch🥇,🥈Mark Bradley, & 4th Bronwyn Healing/Darren Johnston all in the 50+ Mixed Team Recurve. (misc photos) 🏆🎇📣🍾🎉

• We will be trialing a new morning round of OzBow on the Sat 7th for those morning people.🌄🎯

• We have created a new Club by-law which interprets Thumb Rings as NOT a release aid. Only for club level events at our club however; If you want to use a thumb ring, we won’t consider you a Freestyle Compound archer if you do. 👍💍🏹✔

• The elders of the Bris Bane Sooty Cow-n-Sell have given us special permission to perform an ancient pagan ritual on Fri 20th, the night before the Winter Solstice, to usher in better scores & weather for the rest of the year. Luckily enough, this ritual manifests as shooting 30 or 60 arrows at a 40cm target at 18 metres. Known as an Alchemist’s Almanac(AA) 18, & a Wiccan Allegory(WA) 18. The club has installed enough light spells to illuminate 4 lanes, so only 12 ritualists will be allowed in the ceremony. A small fee will be charged for the event, with all funds going to our two novice witches (Ellen & Liezel) to attend the Witchcraft Alternate Year Coven in Canuckistan🍁.
They are too young to fly on their own brooms yet, obviously! 🌃🏹🔥🧹💰💸

May Monthly Medal winners: 🏅Lionel Smith; 🥈Bart Parr, 🥉Adam Schmidt; 🕷Georgia Smith.

• Please welcome our newest, fully approved club members: 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

(U14) Emmie Schafer, Mila Patterson, Yufei Wu, & Tenzin Losel (U16) Yu Mo Wu

(Open) Jack Anderson, Jeames Brown, Malachai Lawler, & Matt Schafer

Club Records

Congrats to our new club record holders, from 🌧☔May’s End of Month competition🌧☔:

◦ Izach Parr - U16->U21 Male Barebow - WABB50/720 - 168 -> 359 👏😲🌧🤯📈

◦ Georgia Smith - Open Female Recurve - AA20/720 - 357 👏

◦ Michael Barry - 60+ Male Recurve - AA50/720 - 505 👏

State Record - Izach did so well, it appears he has set the SQAS record for U18 & U21 too! 🤯🤯

Etiquette

Please don’t hold up the entire shooting line looking for a lost arrow. It’s easy to get absorbed in the search and lose track of time. You should only search for a maximum of a couple of minutes each end. In short, you can keep searching until the last archer has finished scoring, and has pulled their arrows from the target. That’s when you need to stop searching, and try again at the next end.

“Alternative” Archery Facts

Forecast for Winter: The Archery Gods™ will favour archers who get up early in the morning as they appreciate the sacrifice of bare feet on a tiled bathroom floor. Arrow shafts will be slightly shorter, unless you include them in your archery warm up routine. Traditional archers should wear much warmer clothing, because you told us you were super cool already. Our kangaroos will be 7.903% lazier, so please adjust accordingly. Lastly, there is a new drive-thru cafe (Cafe 4074) just up the road, so you won’t even have to get out of your car for your second cuppa. ❄🍵

Tip of the Week.

📆 Annual Grounds Fee 💸

Looking for a gift for that special Archer in your life? Or perhaps that archer is you & you want to save yourself some considerable time & money? Then consider purchasing an Annual Grounds Fee. For the low price of $250 per year for adults, and $165 for under-18s, you can shoot all the arrows you want at our club, and never have to queue at the pay terminal again! If that isn’t enough reason, you can save between 20% to 40% compared to the regular daily ground fees!

Safety Tip

🥊🦘 Kangaroos are wild! 🦘🥊

It’s Joey/Mating/Fighting season again at the club grounds. We need to be extra careful when approaching our fellow furry club members. We have had near misses in the past where a big male attempted to attack an adult archer when he wasn’t looking. Please remember, they are wild creatures. They can inflict serious injuries. Give them the distance, caution, & respect they deserve.

• Don’t allow children or short people to approach the kangaroos alone.

• Use overwhelming size & numbers when trying to scare off the kangaroos from the field. Don’t let someone try to do this alone. Help your fellow archers scare them off.

• If a big male stands up & starts growling or grunting; Back off! Get more help before proceeding.

• Don’t get between or close to a joey & its mother or a bull male. This can trigger them to charge & attack.
