Club News

Volunteer of the Week: Brian Dymock - Our ‘wee’ Scotsman & president has been an extra busy boy lately. On top of all the grant stuff, meetings, and holding down a full-time job, he’s been at it with his nemesis, spraying the weeds etc growing under the shade structure. He also did his first trainee session to become an Archery Instructor. On top of all that, he’s revived the club mower & was last seen cheering away as he mowed the grass around the containers. 👏🎓🏡✂🍀

• You may have noticed, the club is slowly winding down the level of activities over the end of year period. It’s hot & many of us are taking a wee break to be with family. Of course, the exposure to relatives will recharge certain member’s batteries by reminding them why they escape to archery regularly in the first place. We look forward to seeing you in the new year! 👴👵👨👩👦👧👶

• We will be hosting a free Archery morning for Veterans & their families on Jan 18th (Sunday). If you know any one who would like to give it a go, let them know! (Free via Invictus) 🎖🪖⚓🛦📯

• Congratulations to our members who completed the December Beginners Course in that heat. Well done to Jack “Andrew” Kramer, Isaac Akkari, Jasmin Simmonds, & Tebelle Docen. Thanks again to all the instructors who helped out on the course. 🎓🎓🎓🎓

• Please welcome our newest, fully approved club member: 👏👏👏👏

(U16) Samara Taylor, Nathan Thomas, & (Open) Mike Nguyen, Kieran Thawanont

Etiquette

In addition to the positions listed in our constitution, the club has a bunch of other positions that are available & required to keep the club running smoothly. Please consider volunteering for one of them, if a role on the management committee appears too much of a commitment to you.

“Alternative” Archery Facts

What do different archers immediately think when they’ve shot an arrow …

Compound: Curses! It wasn’t an X.

  Recurve: Yay, it's gold!

Barebow: Wow, it’s almost a group!

Longbow: I wonder what colour it will be when it eventually gets there?

Tip of the Week.

📆 Annual Grounds Fee 💸

Looking for a gift for that special Archer in your life? Or perhaps that archer is you & you want to save yourself some considerable time & money? Then consider purchasing an Annual Grounds Fee. For the low price of $250 per year for adults, and $165 for under-18s, you can shoot all the arrows you want at our club, and never have to queue at the pay terminal again! If that isn’t enough reason, you can save between 20% to 40% compared to the regular daily ground fees!

Fun Fact: We have 36 members who already use this option!

BONUS Tip of the Week

💪 Specific Physical Training 💪

As the club grounds are mostly closed over the Xmas break, now is a good time to grab that therapy band & exercise equipment out of storage to do some SPTs. Not only will it work off some of those extra calories you just happened to find under the tree, but it will help keep your fine archery form that you’ve worked so hard to develop over the year.

Safety Tip

Don’t Drink & Drive, … or Shoot.

We want to see you all in the New Year, so don’t Drink & Drive. Have a designated driver if you can. Be on the lookout for potential drink drivers on the road. Stay safe this festive season.

Also, just a reminder that the sport of Archery, the Club, and our archery field are an alcohol free sport/zone.
