All,

Beginning December 20, 2022 at 8PM EST the CCADB will be updated to introduce the new “Root Inclusion Request” Case type, which will replace the existing “CA Root Inclusion Request” Case type. Existing inclusion requests in CCADB will be migrated to the new Case type during this time.

Please do not attempt to modify data in the CCADB during this update. The update may take a few days and meanwhile there will be an “Under Construction” message on the CCADB homepage. Once the update is complete, we will post another message in this thread to communicate the status, and we will adjust the messaging on the CCADB homepage.

In the updated “Root Inclusion Request” Case type, we are simplifying the process for CA Owners with a desire to apply to multiple root stores. A CA Owner submits one Root Inclusion Request and can apply to multiple root stores and select multiple root CA certificates for inclusion application. The Root Store Members can process the inclusion request to their store according to their program goals, requirements and timelines.

The previously added “Add/Update Root Request” Case type must first be used to add a new root CA certificate to CCADB. Then that new root CA certificate can be selected and processed for inclusion using this new “Root Inclusion Request” Case type.

These new workflows combined should:

+ Be easier for CA Owners to use

+ Enable CA Owners to request inclusion in multiple root stores without having to provide the same data multiple times

+ Reduce duplication of data in the CCADB, which currently results in outdated information in Cases – the root inclusion case (which can be open for multiple years) will refer to (not copy) the data in the CA Owner and relevant root CA certificate records.

Thank you

- Chris, on behalf of the CCADB Steering Committee

All,

The CCADB update to introduce the new “Root Inclusion Request” Case type, which replaced the existing “CA Root Inclusion Request” Case type is complete. Activity in CCADB may resume.

A CA Owner submits one Root Inclusion Request and can apply to multiple root stores and select multiple root CA certificates for its inclusion application.
