And it’s been years! since Carolingia has had a community yard sale, when we all dig out the unneeded oddments that have been taking up space in our closets and cellars and lofts and sheds, and take those to the ‘market’ and sell them! And we look over the useful household and personal goods that the rest of us are selling, and find things we might need!
Bring stuff to sell. Bring money to buy.
I've offered to run another /y/a/r/d/s/a/l/e/ market at Otter’s Welcome in June.
https://www.eastkingdom.org/event-details/?eid=4571 I'll set up and manage the tables, supply recording pages and instructions to track items and owners, and reconcile the accounts and distribute payments afterwards.
Individual participants are responsible for bringing their items, setting their own prices, tagging their items, working with me to record items on arrival, and taking away unsold items *when they leave the event* (or making arrangements with someone else to do so, and making certain I know of these arrangements). Anything left when I close the tables will be donated to Gold Key (if GK wants it) or tossed.
Items should be SCA-related: small domestics (feast gear, baskets, throw rugs, &c.); fabric, trim &c.; craft supplies; books and music; garb items and accessories; and suchlike. Please don't price any item over $20, and please don’t bring anything that won't sit easily on a table/shelf. (If you'll need special access to drop off items, please send me a note about what you're bringing and we'll make arrangements with the event stewards.)
All items must be tagged and recorded, so I can manage reconciliation and getting everybody's money to them afterwards. If you can tag your items before you arrive at the event (and especially if you’re selling many items) please send me a note and I'll send you instructions and a recording page pdf to print and make your list.
Sales will be cash-only. I won't be accepting credit cards for payment.
Just to be clear: This isn't a baronial benefit, all sale monies will be paid to whomever brought the items.
If you have any questions, please send me a note directly.
Something you're ready to let go, might be exactly what someone else is looking for...
Come to the market, good neighbors, look around, there's sure to be something here you need...
