Time has come again for all scurrilous gamesters to gather at the hall of Symon and Deirdre. This month we dip into a game most suited for spending some time and losing your shirt, Primero! A game of constructing different hands, vying, and bluffing, it fits in the same place as Poker does in the modern world (But it is not, near as can be seen, a direct relation of Poker). Widely known across Europe in the 15th century, although with variations, you could find yourself playing with ruffians representing a wide swath of late period. As it will be Friday the 13th, come test the omen and push your luck and your skill. Should we find ourselves pinching our wallets after playing Primero, we may take a turn at some more lighthearted card games such as the ever favored Laugh and Lie Down.

And even should you lose your last dinar, florin, farthing, livre, or mark it wouldn't be joyous to see you go hungry. To that end, a meal will be provided by Deirdre for those who would like to join us before the cards are dealt. Please let us know if you will be dining with us, and any restrictions you may have.
