Dear Parents and Guardians of 2020-2021 Blackhawks:
The Carlos Gilbert PTK (Parents! Teachers! Kids!) welcomes you to the approaching 2020-2021 school year at Carlos Gilbert Elementary, where a great school is a community project! This amazing school community has provided more than three generations of Santa Fe families a high quality education since 1942. The PTK is here to help your family and would love to have you on our team. Every parent, guardian, teacher, and kid in the Carlos Gilbert community is automatically a member of the PTK. We don't charge dues, and we don't require a minimum commitment. We welcome and appreciate all levels of participation and support.
The purpose of the PTK is to support, encourage, and enrich the educational, creative, and social experience of Carlos Gilbert Elementary School. We work with the school principal, Kim Pietrocci, to make programs available to our children in the school through various fundraisers. Traditionally, the PTK funds an enrichment program, such as theater, dance, or cooking, for each grade. The PTK also provides every teacher a stipend each semester for classroom materials, gives every club and team a yearly stipend, pays teachers to tutor students in need of extra assistance, facilitates school events, and supports other programs and activities as needed.
This year, the needs of our school community will be different from the past. The PTK is working to improve our online communication and to support our school community by sharing tools and resources as we navigate teaching and learning remotely. We are ramping up our Facebook page, so be sure to follow us at " Carlos Gilbert Blackhawks." We're also updating our website, www.carlosgilbertptk.com, to be more user friendly and informative. Our beloved Halloween Carnival will not take place in 2020. This is our major annual fundraiser. Due to cancellations of big events in person, parking fundraisers will also not be a source of funds for us this year. We are brainstorming about new ways to raise money, so we can continue contributing to the educational, social, and emotional needs of all students, teachers, and families.
We value your input and ideas as we enter this new and unusual era of schooling. Please consider filling out our Parent/Guardian Survey and asking your child to fill out our Student Survey.
