Grabbing the ragdoll

Hi! I have another question. I made it so that in VR with the Vive controllers I can grab the character in ragdoll mode. I am using the VRTK toolkit, which creates a fixed joint and attaches it to the rigidbody:

If I do not do that the animation works fine, but once I've moved e.g. a limb it is as if I broke some of the bones of the character.

Some of the bones then seem to be completely physics based instead of animated.

How can I avoid that, so that the character stays intact?
