Doorbell camera that works, sorry the existing posts are from over a year ago.

I have been able to add all kinds of el-cheapo cameras. It seems remarkable to me that so many work with Camect. Except doorbells. 

The doorbell cameras that I see, they always seem to want to have their own app and so on. I would like to replace my RING… (they are thieves with pricing) with something that can send alerts from Camect. 

On one hand I could just put a regular camera, but having a button, and audio would be very good. I dont have any wires going to the door, the ring is battery powered, I can run 24V or I can run POE, but battery and wifi and compatibility would be my first choice.

I can highly recommend the Reolink PoE doorbell.

The Reolink WiFi doorbell works, but being WiFi is of course subject to interference.

Their battery/Wifi doorbell works, but does not provide a 24/7 stream, and like all of the battery cameras I’ve tested over the years suffers from startup delay and connection issues when waking from sleep.

PoE is the way to go for reliability.

I actually install cameras as part of my work - and for sure we use Poe whenever we can. 

I feel slightly lazy with my front door, because there is no wire there. 

Let me see which one costs how much !

I had doorbell wires from my transformer, but there was no good way to run a Cat5/6 cable to the doorbell location. I opted for the Reolink WiFi version. I encountered a minor problem where the existing transformer wasn't producing enough juice for the camera, so I replaced it for about $20. Now it has been working fine with Camect for 2 years. WiFi has not caused any noticeable problems for me, and I have great coverage everywhere (4 Ubiquiti access points). I agree that battery-only is not viable.

You can add the doorbell as an ONVIF camera. ONVIF is off by default though.

Please go to the doorbell's web interface, settings > network > advanced > server settings, to enable ONVIF.

I just installed the 5mp WIFI from Bolide Technology.   On the higher side, but works like a charm.
