Still hazy on when they might actually become available again at the sub $100.00 price, but Amazon seems to have some at around $150.00. No stock yet at Newark, Mouser, etc.
Question is, is the faster recognition performance worth it?

The main benefit of adding Coral is that the total amount of simultaneously-occurring motion that can be analyzed increases -- so if you have several cameras all getting lots of motion Coral will help to ensure that nothing important is missed on any of them. If you have only a few cameras, it's not very likely that Coral will make any noticeable difference.

Thanks for the reply Arup. I'm only running six cameras at the moment, but I've seen several instances where recognition was delayed up to a minute or so (person detection). For instance I could have been out in my own front yard and then come back in i a minute or so, then hear the "person detected" Alert. Its a Rural location here, perhaps the Camect is analyzing quite a few things moving about from tree leaves moving to changing shadows. Perhaps when the Corals are available again for a reasonable price, I might give one a try to see the difference.

Have you previously submitted an example of a delayed alert for us to check on?

Finally broke down and ordered a Coral USB from Amazon ($140.00), but seems that due to the chip shortage, a lower priced one may be long in coming. I've grown to depend on the Camect to let me know just what went "bump in the night" (or day for that matter:-)). I'll have it this week and will post any speedup in object recognition.

Received the Coral USB and seems to be powering up and operating normally. 4 Dahua's and 1 Hikvision Cameras up now, probably add two more before bad weather arrives. Recognition seems to be quicker, but I need to test a bit more to see. One thing I did note was that the Power indicator is also an Activity indicator as well which I find useful ( I also found HD drive lights to be very useful too, back in the "old days" before manufactures decided we really didn't need to see if the Drive was doing anything...:-(. The Coral's activity light told me that my backyard cam was looking at several large leafed, tall weeds that were using a lot of processing even in light breezes. A large pair of clippers solved that problem :-). Some sort of Activity Indicator on the Camect (implemented in software) I'd find useful too, other than ""Hub Busy"... Can that be implemented without a lot of trouble Arup?

This is already sort of there, but not in a very attention-grabbing form. The timeline has three colors corresponding to "no activity", "motion detected and analyzed", and "interesting activity". In the new UI those colors are white, blue, and green respectively.

If you look at the timeline of the camera that was always busy analyzing useless activity in the past, you should see a lot of blue and little green.
