Any thoughts?  It was a single partition.  I was set up as a Mac GUID, but since I can't find if external drives need to be formatted a specific way, I just plugged it in.  Is it running through a formatting and will take awhile?

Camect does not format automatically ... You have to do it by clicking the "eraser" button on the storage tab after plugging in a drive.

Plugging in a drive is not supposed to cause it to go offline though. Is the blue LED lit, and are the network LEDS (on the back next to the network jack) still flashing?

In any case, try power-cycling your Camect to see if you can get it back. To power down, press the power button firmly for a second, and then wait up to 35 seconds for it to turn off. If it doesn't, just pull the power plug. After powering off, unplug the drive so that we can first make sure it will work without that drive plugged in.

If power cycling brings your Camect back, and if plugging in the drive makes it go offline again, send a note to sup...@camect.com and we'll find out more from you there. Also, make sure you're plugging the drive into a USB 3.0 port (one of the blue ones).

If it appears to power on but does not come back online after you power-cycle, do you have an HDMI monitor or TV you could plug into it? It will help if you can get a snapshot of the diagnostic info that appears there and send it to us.

Ok.  It appears I plugged it into the USB connector on the side with the HDMI ports.  I unplugged it from there and put it on the side with the 2 USB ports and rebooted.  Now it is back up and running.

Hopefully I didn't F it up.
