Hi Arup, I’m sure your work load is pretty busy.  I am just wondering if anyone has looked at the WYZE Doorbell Camera to see if it is possible to pick that feed up.  Is it feasible or even worth it from your stand point.  I have been using it for a month now and as a doorbell camera, it has been working very nicely.  I’m only interested in the camera capability, not any doorbell operation.  If you say it isn’t feasible or worth the programing time, I understand, just asking.

Thanks,

Carl,

We'll eventually get it working, but expect it to take some time.

In the next release, it is going to partially work ... i.e. We'll have the ability to get video from the camera, but there is something goofy on such that the video comes in rotated 90 degrees :-|. We haven't had a chance to look into why that's the case yet.

Hi Arup, Thanks for the updated firmware.  I am now able to see the Wyze doorbell camera in Camect.  Yes, it is turn 90 degrees, but it still recognizes if it’s a person and sends me an alert. Appreciate the effort to get the camera added.

I was curious if you have located the but with the 90 degree rotation?  Thanks for everything you have done so far too!

We do not currently claim that the Wyze doorbell is supported although, as some are aware, it partially works -- i.e. the video stream is retrieved, but it's rotated 90 degrees.

Daron: If you want to try adding your doorbell, you can do it from hub settings > devices > add camera ... set the type to Wyze and see if you can select your camera.

We do eventually plan to make the doorbell work, but this is a relatively low priority issue given that not many people have the camera yet and it will take some effort to fix this -- so we haven't forgotten, but there's also not a specific timeframe yet in which to expect a fix.

until this week my wyze doorbell worked okay (90 degree tilt aside) but now I am seeing an error on the camect display page for my wyze doorbell.  I cannot tell if the firmware change and added a uid/pwd which is not being passed through to the camera to collect the data.  It is strange.
I am seeing Incorrect Username or password in the place I should see the camera view.  Has anyone else reported an issue like this?

Hi Daron,

The Wyze doorbell that we have here still seems to be working.  Please try the following steps:

   1. Disable the Wyze sign in box and camera boxes for any Wyze cams you see in the Camect UI by using the slider at the top left of each one.
   2. Restart your Camect device .... i.e. home settings (cog wheel at top) > show advanced settings > restart
   3. Sign out and back into the Wyze app to make sure your username and password are still valid. Make sure you are using the same sign in credentials that you are using with Camect.
   4. Go to hub settings > device > add camera. Set the type to "Wyze" and click "Add".  Sign into your Wyze Cameras.
   5. (If you're still having problems ... ) hub settings > Report Bug ... check the checkboxes to include logs and settings from your device.

Question - does object detection still work properly if everything is rotated 90 degrees?

My Nest Hello doorbell just died on me today and it's out of warranty so Google won't replace it, and I've got one of these Wyze doorbells sitting here. Trying to decide if it's worth using the Wyze, or buying a new Nest doorbell.

Detection does work on the rotated video to some extent, although it's probably best to see what others who have been using the rotated video think. We don't have a lot of experience with it.

If you decide to buy a replacement Nest doorbell, make sure to get a Nest Hello. The new Nest doorbell (since about 2 months ago) cannot produce a continuous video stream, is not viewable from the web, and will not work with Camect.

Thanks - I'll avoid the battery nest doorbell. Maybe I'll just use the Wyze doorbell until next year when the new Wired Nest doorbell comes out (and hopefully will be compatible with Camect!): https://www.theverge.com/2021/9/29/22700859/google-nest-doorbell-wired-2nd-gen-launching-2022

The Amcrest 2K wired doorbell seems to work fine with Camect.  I’m not a fan of the Amcrest app for iOS, but if your intent is to use Camect as the interface to the doorbell camera, you wouldn’t need to use the Amcrest app very often.

Try installing your Wyze doorbell rotated 90 degrees.  You should get an upright Camect image that you may or may not like.  :)

@Wendell thanks for the recommendation, I'll look into that one (although I see there are a ton of pre-owned nest doorbells without the mounting equipment for about $50-60 on ebay, so maybe I'll go that route).

@Jack lol, definitely an idea, although it probably wouldn't work well with my 45 degree mounting bracket :-D
