I am looking to replace a camera.
The ReoLink RLC-820A IP camera specs only shows that it supports H.265.
Without H.264 compatibility, will it work with Camect?

I don't know of anything that has used that specific camera, although it's likely that you can get it to work with some perseverance ....

Camect supports H.265, but be aware that sometimes you may run into video quality issues with H.265 -- it's newer and not all vendors have everything fully debugged yet. If your camera really doesn't support h.264, you won't have the option of falling back to h.264 in the event of problems.

Reolink cameras are a bit weird because they use a different RTSP url for h.265 vs h.264. This means that when you plug the camera into the network it might be detected as Reolink and then fail to connect. However, if video is fetchable from the alternate RTSP url using VLC, you can get it to work in Camect by adding the camera manually with type "Stream URL" and putting in the RTSP url.  We're planning to automatically handle the alternate url in a future software update too.

Try rtsp://LOGIN_ID:PASSWORD@IP_ADDRESS/h264Preview_01_sub

That works with an RLC-823A - which is also advertised as h.265, but provides an h.264 stream on request.
