For whatever reason, I have been unable to successfully upload/share a clip with WhatsApp as I always get "file format unsupported". I export in MP4 format via the UI (typically for just a small alert that I get via Telegram first).

Is there any non-standard MP4 implementation being used when encoding the data?

My cameras are Lorex 4K (re-branded Dahua it seems) and I record in full-res @ 30fps. Not sure if that makes a difference or not.

Note that Google Photos and everything else seems to be able to decode and play the MP4 clips just fine.

Thoughts?

If your camera is using h.265 compression, your playback app may not support h.265.

We're not doing anything nonstandard that we're aware of ... But Jack has a good point. mp4 is a container format, i.e. the video inside it can be encoded in many different ways. All of those are valid mp4, but your player (or in this case WhatsApp) needs to support the format of the video within.

Does this problem occur even if the exported clip consists entirely of non-motion video (i.e. no light or dark green green areas on the timeline when you make the clip)?
