Using the box for something else

Pardon the newbie question, but since I bought the box, is it possible, if I should in the future decided to not use it for cameras, to have root access and use it as a generic *nix box?

Not saying I will/want to do that, but at least knowing there is the option?  With other Pi-based dedicated boxes (I know this isn't a pi box) I have the option to reboot as a standard *nix or reformat and re-use in the future.

Its essentially a PC, so just format the hard drive and do what you want!  Might be worth taking an image of the disk just in case you want to revisit it at some point!

So what is the internal cpu?  Is it Intel X86, ARM, or something else?  Does it have a PC BIOS? "essentially a PC" isn't really very meaningful.

Camect says the HDMI is only for their diagnostics, can a monitor be plugged in and traditional boot-up screens displayed?
