City of Cambridge - Community Development Department – Cambridge Energy Alliance

 

The Cambridge Energy Alliance:

 

Cambridge Energy Alliance (CEA) was created in 2007 to help Cambridge residents and businesses identify and pursue energy efficiency and clean energy opportunities.  Through outreach and education CEA helps residents and business owners facilitate energy efficiency improvements by coordinating with energy audit companies, construction experts, and financial institutions.  Our goal is to be a community resource in facilitating improvements to residences and businesses to save energy and reduce utility bills in order to cut Cambridge’s carbon footprint. We work closely with other City departments, local utility providers (NSTAR), and green contractors for both the residential and commercial sector to achieve these goals.

 

Position Responsibilities:

 

The Community Outreach Intern will assist in implementing a community energy efficiency (EE) program that will reach substantial parts of the community including: the residential building sector, low-income residents, and the small commercial building sector.  The Community Outreach Intern will help increase the CEA’s visibility within established community networks by coordinating staff and volunteer involvement at specific community events and attending/presenting at events with community organizations: such as youth groups, residential associations, faith based groups, and others. The Community Outreach Intern will to establish and refine CEA’s internal process and flow of information through closely maintaining our client relations database as well as providing custom reports and key analysis on improving the CEA’s functionality and visibility to the community.  In addition, the successful candidate will work directly with residents and business owners to create lasting relationships based on reducing energy cost and use.  The Community Outreach Intern will also be responsible for creating content and maintaining our Energy 2.0 community blog and other social media sites, while working to implement a matching grants program.

 

Qualifications:

 

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

-          BA/BS in a related field of study

-          1 to 3 years work experience in outreach, energy efficiency, or related field

-          Excellent written and verbal communications skills   

-          Familiarity with client management systems, such as Salesforce, and a demonstrated ability to use data analysis to highlight outreach   opportunities

-          Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter

-          Exceptional attention to detail

-          Ability to remain flexible and thrive in a fast paced and dynamic environment

-          Genuine interest in the energy efficiency or environmental field

-          Genuine interest in providing a service to people from a range of urban demographics
