Smithers Ski and Snowboard Club and Bulkley Valley Cross Country Ski Club regret to announce the cancellation of this year's Winter Gear Swap, which had been tentatively set for early November.

Given the most recent Public Health Order focused on the Northern Region, Executive from both clubs felt the risk and complexities were too great to provide a safe event at this point for used gear transactions.

Our clubs remain committed to following all updated PHO and ViaSport guidelines to reduce the risks of Covid-19 transmission, and we are looking forward to a safe and exciting winter season ahead.

For those of you with used gear to sell, or looking to buy new gear, we suggest using Facebook marketplace and/or Varagesale. You can then link your items to facebook groups like our discussion group or the Ski North group.

The Jakroo Team Clothing Storefront is now open.  The usual race suits and lighter warm up jacket are the mainstay of the options. New items available this year include warm up pants, a warmer ski jacket and a newly minted puffy jacket.

Ski North clothing store open until Oct 25

Ski North → Promoting Cross Country Skiing in the North and working together as a team to create great opportunities for our athletes, coaches and club members to build on skills, friendships, and racing experiences, locally and provincially.

A few years ago, a Ski North Team concept was created to help bring the eight ski clubs of the North together to connect where possible and provide mutual support at races, events and program developments.

A logo was designed and Smokescreen Graphics out of Smithers set up a user friendly website to provide Ski North swag to unite clubs.

Members will have until Oct. 25, 2021 to place your orders.  Our club will need at least 18 items in total for the order to go ahead.

The club is listed as BV XC Ski Club on the home page and BV Nordic Ski Club on the delivery page.

PLEASE NOTE:  This clothing is separate from the BV Nordic Ski Club race clothing from Jakroo.

Race official training (virtual) Nov 13

Officials Level 1 Course - Virtual - November 13, 2021… Anyone is welcome to join!

The Bulkley Valley Cross Country Ski Club is looking for people to become certified as an Official.  The club hosts several races during the season and we would like increase our volunteer base in the officiating arena.

Here is a brief description:

An eight hour course that provides an overview of what a cross country ski competition is all about.  The focus is on the duties of minor officials for both ‘Olympic’ style (interval start, mass start, pursuit start, individual sprint, team sprint and relay) and ‘Loppet’ style (mass participation) competitions.

Minimum age:  16 years as of the start of the course. 8 hrs / course. The course fee for CCC/CCBC members is $85.00. (This course fee will be covered by the club.)
