From Jan, our GM: I hate being the bearer of bad news but here’s what I must say about why we are not grooming: due to the unusual weather (climate change..), a very saturated trail surface, and the upcoming forecast, we will not be able to groom for the next 48-72 hours. The parking lot is also treacherous and will be graveled as soon as possible.

Jan is an eternal optimist: but it was so good last weekend! Our grooming crew did a fantastic job making our trails nice and smooth even though it was warm, that’s because we had some colder snow underneath that kept the top layer from melting, which made grooming very good in spite of the temperature, and the skiing was indeed very nice.

Jan is also a pragmatist: but now the snowpack has completely changed, because of recent extreme warming and hefty rain, the snowpack has now been penetrated deep down. Our plan is to wait until we once again have solid cold temperatures at night, let the snow freeze, and then start the process of re-building our trails back to normal. It’ll take a while but the product will be acceptable if we are patient. We hope that you trust us in our abilities to create good skiing and bring back our normal trail standards. Thanks for your understanding.
