Over endeavor

Madhudvisa had this convent in mind to buy, it was going to cost $1 million. A
big place right on the ocean. It belonged to some Catholic sisters and
Prabhupada went to see it. And he looked it all through. And then, and the day
he saw it he said "buy it." But then later on, he said, he thought about it and
he said, maybe we shouldn't. He said he quoted that verse from the Upadesamrta:
atyaharah prayasas ca prajalpo niyamagrahah jana-sangas ca laulyam ca
[NoI: verse 2]
He said, "it's over endeavor." He said "just like if a woman gets a big pair of
earrings and they are very, very heavy. She is always thinking of these
earrings, and she can't get her mind off her earrings. But he said if we buy
such a big place and then we will always be thinking of how to maintain it."
And then so we, we should, maybe we should. That was the next example he gave
for over endeavor. Thinking more of maintaining the facility, I think.
And I also asked him during the lecture, I said "what is the difference between
over endeavor and working hard for Krsna?" And he said "over endeavor," he said
"we have to work very hard for Krsna. Very hard. But over endeavor comes when
you forget Krsna." When you're working and you forget Krsna,. He didn't say
this but I insinuated that you might be doing something very small, and forget
Krsna. And on the other hand someone else's capacity might be able to work a
lot, and remember Krsna. Each according to his capacity.
