Book Club Meeting at BSFS:

Annual BSFS Picnic is On:
The BSFS Picnic will be at the Patapsco Valley State Park, Hollofield Area Shelter 301 on June 26, 2021 from 12:00 Noon till Dusk. Being outside the city there is no mask mandate. In keeping with Governor's Orders fully vaccinated people do not need to wear masks. (On your honor to wear mask if you are not fully vaccinated) We don't have leftovers from Balticon so free snacks and drinks will be spotty compared to past years so not only bring your own meat like usual but also more than normal other stuff. Lots of ice, charcoal and fun though. Park charges $3.00 per person Maryland Residents and $4.00 per person out of state when you drive in. The Alphabet Soup Board Gaming event and Film Night at BSFS are canceled in June as Baltimore City still has a Mask Mandate in place and we judge these events will not be their usual fun with surgical masks.
Tabletop Role-Playing Game Event at BSFS:
Will next held June 27, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM and will be meeting on the Discord server at https://discord.gg/5U3s2YzPzQ You do need to register for Discord if you have never done so before, but the process is fairly easy. For more info before the event contact BSFSEvents at bsfs dot org
Anime Social at BSFS:
(Off till after the BSFS Picnic so next held July 24) On July 24, 2021 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. This is a day of anime watching and just general hanging out normally, but due to the virus this will be a watch party on the discord server unless the mask mandate is lifted. If lifted we will send out a note to this list. At this anime social we will be watching episodes watching episodes 1-3 of Kemono Jihen, episodes 1-3 of Wonder Egg Priority, and episodes 5-6 of GATE. . Come join us! Go to the Discord Server at https://discord.gg/5U3s2YzPzQ and select from the available channels #wach-parties. Balticon 55 Proves Lucky for Poet:
One day after Miguel Mitchell read his poem “Dead World Canvas” at the Balticon 55 open poetry mic, he received an email that this poem was accepted into Star*Line magazine, the magazine of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Poetry Association. Miguel said, “So Balticon 55 was my lucky charm!”

BSFS sponsors a Writing Circle 6:30-8:30pm which usually meets every second and fourth Thursday of the month inside the BSFS Building, however, near term this means teleconference only by zoom on 06/24/21 and 07/08/21. This is a SF and Fantasy focused writing group. If you write check it out. At least Seven stories work shopped at this writer's circle have been sold to professional markets in the last three years. Shoreleave is an excellent media con normally held for three days in July at the Delta Hotel in Hunt Valley. This year Shoreleave will be a virtual convention held July 10-11, 2021 featuring actors Aimee Garcia, Adam Baldwin, and Eddie McClintock. Prattcon at the Southeast Anchor Library:
The 7th Annual PrattCon, a celebration of books, comics books and comic book culture returns this year as a virtual experience. Sponsored by the Pratt Library system, Prattcon will be held Saturday, July 10 at 10:00am to 3:00pm.
