Convention Preview: Skill Building

Write the Pledge You Want to Take in the World

During the closing session of the 2026 National Convention, members will vote on and ratify a shared statement of our commitment to courageous citizenship. Our model is the Founders, who pledged their "lives, fortunes, and sacred honor" to each other 250 years ago. Ahead of the Convention, a team of BA leaders is meeting to prepare our shared pledge, and we need your help. Join us on Zoom June 22nd at 4:00pm ET to share your thoughts on the content of our pledge via our interactive Braver Angels Civic Exchange tool. Click here to RSVP. Questions? s...@braverangels.org

Inspiring and Engaging Youth

"Workforce alignment" is the buzzword in education today-- but like most buzzwords, its meaning is a bit unclear. In the last few weeks CEO Maury Giles has been talking to thought leaders in the youth empowerment space about how Courageous Citizenship skills can play a key role in young people's education for employment. Maury and Barbara Hancin (Braver Education) recently joined other youth organizations for the Aspen Institute Center for Rising Generations’ Civil Discourse Convening in Washington, DC. A few weeks later, it was on to New York and the Andrew Carnegie Foundation's Project Workforce Conference.  At both events, participants explored how to strengthen civil discourse and civic engagement among young people, and began identifying ways to collaborate around the idea of bridge-building as a part of the journey to adulthood-- and of career readiness. Stay tuned for more on BA's work with these esteemed institutions!

WHAT SOMEONE SAID

“The one thing this Knicks team did, was bring New York together. Politics, race, religion, social status-- none of it mattered during this run. I guess if it took a sports team to do that, then so be it. Maybe we can figure out how to do that as humans every day.”
