A friend sent me a link to a cosplay performance of a Klingon Elsa singing the 'Let it Go' song, in Klingon. Costume and performance are fine, but she sings the entire song.  I don't have any reference for it other than it was at a Seattle Comic Convention, probably last year.  The only cosplay contest I've entered was the 2015 Star Wars Celebration --- got Best In Show, too --- and they were as merciless with time limits on stage as any other masquerade I've been to.

But this Klingon performance defies all that.  Is this common at Comic/Manga/Cosplay Conventions?  I've seen long performances at DragonCon costume contests, too, but DC is kind of its own animal.

Lady Rebecca Fashions, a YouTuber, recently posted her experiences at a Cosplay convention in LA about January 8, and I was surprised at the lengths of what she showed. It was a regional contest that sent someone on to a higher contest. I went through the rules and their time limits ranged from 1:30 for a single performer to 3:00 for a large enough group. Also juried, 15 entries per skill level, workmanship judging required.

While this is an interesting topic, and one I have some personal experiences with, I feel obliged to be a big ol’ meany and point out it’s more appropriate for the cos-chat group than the board meeting.

Thanks Kevin.  I have re-posted my comment to the Costume-Chat group.

Note: I had to 'join' the Costume-Chat group because I've been switching my ICG group access from my gmail.com email to my siweb.costume.org email.

I clicked on 'All groups' on the left side of the screen, which showed all ICG groups.  I clicked on Costume-Chat and it let me join and post right away with no problem.
