Not a good look - Steward Hartman's LAA

It’s only been a little while since the VP relayed Steward’s very gracious letter of thanks for his Lifetime Achievement Award.  What has gone unnoticed so far is how Steward learned of his recognition: he Googled himself.   Let me repeat that: he. Googled. himself.   Not cool.

It’d been almost a month since the announcement was made.   Why?  

Since I was the one who nominated him, I felt like I should at least reach out to him, but that was not my responsibility.   I trust this will not happen in the future.

I was surprised when I read in Steward’s statement that he had not been officially congratulated. This seems to be another instance of a failure caused by the ICG’s reliance on live announcements at Costume-Con.

There aren’t going to be such opportunities — at best not for a very long time. We need to look at what else we've relied on Costume-Con for and what we need to do to replace that reliance. Can someone begin to generate a list as a start?
