2025 Proposed Budget

I think this is the earliest I have gotten this done. I will most likely be deploying with the Red Cross to help with hurricane recovery in the next 2 weeks, so I wanted to get this out. 

as always the numbers are estimates, not real numbers. We do have a new chapter coming on board. I have not heard from the Archives Committee yet, so their numbers are based on last years. Revisions can be made as needed.

Is there a current Statement of Financial Position showing our account balances that I could view?

We are showing a significantly negative budget, similar to the current year's, but I notice that the Marty Gear fund has not been utilized. Is there a way to account for these accounts that have reserves that will be available for use but not actually a draw on the finances unless utilized?

Elaine, what's your opinion? Thoughts? (Feel free to respond after October 15th.

This comes up every year. Because the ICG does not have any income stream beyond dues and donations, the budget will always be negative. Again, it's a budget, not the actual expenditures.

Things like the Marty Gear Grant, while fully funded, will not show in the budget because they are an asset of the ICG, and until funds are paid out, there is no expenditure to record.

Items for the Archives come from their funds, which are also an asset, and if their expenditures exceed the balance, then they need to fundraise for the remainder. 

NPO accounting with designated funds is not simple.

The Board appropriates the Marty Gear Fund’s funds on an annual basis. There is no carry over from one fiscal year to the next. Funds not expended by the end of a fiscal year expire. 

As of today (10/7) we expect one application for support from the Fund. If received promptly, it’s not impossible for it to be awarded from 2024 funds. If not, it could be an expenditure against 2025 funds

Since the Marty Gear Fund was established, there have been several years in which we received no applications for grants. This is recorded In detail in a recent issue of the International Costumer.
