A new venue for Convention Costuming History

Just wanted to pop on here and make an announcement.  I've been requested to write about costuming history for the Fancyclopedia website.   I’m starting by revising the articles I’ve written for the Gallery Facebook page so far, adding any new information found.  A good percentage of articles on Fancyclopedia are about authors and artists, so eventually there’ll be pages created for individual costumers and their contributions to the art form.   Additionally, there’ll be articles about publications, websites, trends, culture and news events that have influenced the hobby.    It’s a big project – we might be looking for help with research and articles down the line.  For now, you can see what’s been posted so far.   https://fancyclopedia.org/Convention_Costuming_History

Hi Bruce,

We talked a few months ago about the ICG Press publishing a collection of current and future articles on costuming history written for the Gallery Facebook page in book form as a collected work or a series. At the time you said that you didn't have time for that. Now that you have committed to regularly writing articles on costuming history this for Fancyclopedia, perhaps it is time to revisit this idea. 

It would probably not take much more effort on your part. It would be a matter of sending the same content to both Fancyclopedia and the ICG Press, and letting an editor put the collection together. We might also recruit other authors who want to write similar articles on the topic.

Perhaps we can schedule a time to meet virtually to discuss this project and how it might work. It would be a great way to benefit both the costuming community and the ICG.
