20 YEARS OF BLAGO FUND
BLAGO Fund is a non-profit organization that preserves and promotes Serbian cultural heritage. Its experts and enthusiasts, within the homeland country as well as throughout Serbian Diaspora, seek to develop a broader awareness and understanding of the importance of Serbian cultural heritage along with its place in the global cultural landscape, and to present its significance and beauty to the world.
BLAGO was founded in San Francisco in the spring of 1998 by the Serbian Unity Congress. Understanding that the first step in the protection of national cultural heritage (and above all its most endangered elements), through systematic and up-to-date documentation and presentation, inspired a group of enthusiasts from the Diaspora to embark on such a journey.

HISTORY
Remember the Great Retreat 1915
This passed November 23rd marked the 84 years anniversary of the Great Retreat by the Serbian Army in WWI.
During the journey across the mountains of Montenegro and Albania, around 70,000 soldiers and 140,000 civilians froze, starved to death, or were killed by hostile Albanian tribes between November 1915 and January 1916. They should never be forgotten.

During one of the BLAGO expeditions, a letter from after WWI was found among the books of the Monastery Manasija. After noting its importance for the Serbian collective conscience, BLAGO team decided to create a shot movie and preserve its legacy.
