Dear all,

Biolympiads is organising a 12-week long intensive USABO training course starting from October. Over the course of 12 weeks, it will cover the most important topics which come up in the USABO exams. The breakdown of topics is:

Cell Biology (30%)

Biochemistry (20%)

Genetics and Evolution (20%)

Plant Anatomy and Physiology (20%)

Ecology (5%)

Ethology (5%)

Note that this course will NOT cover Human physiology and Anatomy, Zoology and Biosystematics. These topics will be covered in another training camp which will be delivered by the IBO silver medalist who is currently a 4th year medical student.

Online lectures will take place every Saturday and Sunday at times to be determined.  Reading assignments will be provided in advance since preparation is crucial for the efficiency of each class. Every week students will also receive problem sets as well as handouts which can be printed before the class and used throughout the class.

Note this course is of advanced level and thus it is most appropriate for those who read Campbell Biology at least 3 times and are in 10th, 11th or 12th grades.

The preliminary course content is outlined below:

Schedule: 2 hrs on Saturday and 2 hrs on Sunday (4 hrs per week, 3 months in total)

Course cost: $1200

Group size: 4-5 students

If you are interested in the course, you can fill in this form and we will get in touch with more details. Please select the best times for you so that we can fit in your busy schedule.

If you are interested in an introductory USABO course, please get in touch at mar...@biolympiads.com as we are also planning to host introductory training camps which will be 6 months in duration. We plan to start them in November.

Have a nice Sunday!

Best wishes,
Martyna Petrulyte, BSc (Hons)

Hello Yang,

We are finalizing the selection of tutors for the course. I will upload the profiles here https://biolympiads.com/biolympiads-training-camps/ and also post on this group once we make the decision. What I can tell you now is that all tutors are past IBO participants.

We are planning to decide on who will teach by the end of this week. ;-)

Thank you!

Best wishes,
Martyna Petrulyte, BSc (Hons)

Hi Martina! Ravi here, I am a serious IBO aspirant from India and am currently in 12th. Can you please make a WhatsApp group for the IBO enthusiasts so that we can interact with each other too, like in Google groups, it's too confusing.
Thank You,
Ravi Nunia (India)

Hi,

I am against whatsapp groups because if a new person is added he cannot see anything. I think Google groups are pretty good because:
1) You can see all messages according to different topics
2) You can share large files
3) There is history which can be accessed by anyone anytime
4) You can search for any keywords in the forum so you can find anything you want

I hope that makes sense. ;-))))

Best wishes,
Martyna Petrulyte, BSc (Hons)

Hello everyone!

I hope you are safe and healthy! ;-)

We have realised that due to other commitments and extracurricular activities it may be hard for you to join our Advanced USABO training camp: Part 1. Thus, we decided to give access to our course materials on Schoology which can be accessed offline at any time. This means that you don't need to take part in live classes.

Over the course of 12 weeks, the course will cover:
  • Cell Biology (30%)
  • Biochemistry (20%)
  • Genetics and Evolution (20%)
  • Plant Anatomy and Physiology (20%)

Note that this course will NOT cover Human physiology & Anatomy, Zoology, Ecology & Ethology and Biosystematics which will be covered in Part 2.

The access to resources of the Advanced USABO training course: Part 1 includes:

  • Handouts for each module mentioned above
  • Lecture presentations
  • Weekly quizzes
  • Lecture recordings

Resources will be uploaded every week. You will also need to wait 2-3 days until the class recording is uploaded.

To get access to the resources, follow the link here
