Hey guys,
What do you think the cutoff will be for this year's open exam?
Also, since I am doing USABO for the first time, does anyone remember any 2017 semifinal questions? It would be very useful as I currently have no idea about the difficulty level of the test.
Thanks.

Hey Atharv, I think the cutoff was a 21, and semis questions are usually much harder, yet doable. Also, congratulations on making camp!

Thanks! By the way how did you know that I made camp? Is it public?

Finalists know the results but officially it will be published on 18th. ;-) at least this is what the website says. ;->>>

Best wishes,

How do they notify finalists before making it public?

Yeah, I'm not sure how you already know you made camp, the results are not even out yet... :)

Campers are sent an email a week before the finalist list is released to the public to confirm their attendance of the IBO training camp.

Hi Atharv,

This year's semifinal and open were heavily influenced by last year's IBO topics, it seems. Not that it caused you too much trouble! Congratulations on making camp – and don't over-worry yourself with studying. Have fun for the rest of the year, maybe read through some Raven's and glance over the Dev Bio sections in Campbell. As for labs, I wouldn't worry too much as there is ample time during camp where TAs (and other campers :D) will be helping you out with identification and such. If you really want to study, I would definitely start out with this video. I hope it helps you learn a little not only about what we'll study at camp, but also give you a peek into the culture there. You'll have a blast, I'm sure of it!

Warmly,
Alexander Tsao
