Thank you to those who attended the Microbiome Analysis community meeting last week. We enjoyed an insightful presentation from Dr. Kate Bowerman (University of Queensland) on "Australian Marsupial Microbiomes."

We have two announcements following the meeting:

1. Metagenomic Analysis Workshop – 2026 Brisbane
This three-day workshop introduces best practices and practical workflows for working with publicly available microbiome datasets, focusing on reproducible, FAIR data-driven research.

Dates and Format:
  - Part 1 (Hybrid): Tuesday, 25 August, 11:00–17:00 AEST (Online or in-person at Brisbane/St Lucia)
  - Part 2 (In-person only): Wednesday, 26 August – Thursday, 27 August, 9:00–17:00 AEST (University of Queensland, St Lucia)

Registration:
The workshop is free to attend, but in-person capacity is limited to 20 participants. Attendees are responsible for their own travel and accommodation. 2. ELIXIR Microbiome Community Meeting
Please join the European Life Science Research Infrastructure (ELIXIR) Microbiome Community Meeting on Monday, 6 July at 18:00 AEST. Please get in touch if you would like to participate.

Next Meeting:
Our next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, 22 September at 1:00 PM AEST. We look forward to a presentation from Dr. Pok Man (Bob) (Monash University) regarding his recent research on how bark microbiota modulates climate gas fluxes in Australian forests. Sure to be interesting, hope to see you there!
