Looking to try a quick release pedal and mks promenade ezy is fitting the budget.
I see mixed reviews - some people suggest it is not wide enough and one should rather get something wider + a general suggestion to buy the ezy superior (although many have ridden without the yellow clip on the ezy it seems)
.any thoughts?

This is also a wtb email if anyone wants to sell an ezy/ezy superior pedal.

Thank you

I love MKS pedals. Never had problems with the standard version but I feel much more secure with the Superior. The Promenades are light, inexpensive, and durable. They don’t have any teeth, though. Nothing. So not very grippy. In rain, they’re terrible as are many of the MKS styles. The clear exception is the Allways which is a better platform to boot.

Thank you, Walter, for the feedback :) did you not have problems with or without the yellow safety clip?
I had an offer for a promenade, but I guess I'll wait out for something on the Allways..would be nice to have sealed bearings too!
The MKS pretzel also looks like it could have a good grip..

On a flat pedal, like the Promenade  (where your shoe can get in and hit the collar), I'd say the retaining clip is required. On a pedal like the US-S (where your shoe is constrained by the cleat), I'd not worry about it.

The Allways is available natively with the Ezy Superior quick release system. So if you haven't already invested in Ezy, just get the Allways and be done.

If you have a reason to prefer Ezy (to Ezy Superior), the Pretzel has a cup and cone spindle, as does the Promenade. I suspect you can buy an Ezy Promenade and a Standard Pretzel, and swap the spindles. This would give you a standard Promenade, and an Ezy Pretzel.

No problems with or without the clip, but without could certainly lead to a disastrous situation so I'd make sure to use them.

The nice thing about the Ezy Superior is it eliminates the need for those.

The Pretzel is one I haven't tried but it looks good.

The Taco is amazing in that it's a very big platform but no Ezy Superior (yet).
