Hi all, I recently got my hands on a SatRDay Mark II, the Bike Friday recumbent with 20" (406) wheels. It has standard over the seat steering. I know the original SatRDay recumbent with 16" (349) wheels had underseat steering as an option. So two questions:

1) Was under seat steering ever offered with the SatRDay Mark II?

2) Has anyone added under seat steering using standard-ish components?

I was thinking about using the frame and Y clamps offered by T-Cycle.com combined with very short threadless stem and a center drilled section of HDPE rod as the stem connector and bearing, with a pair of rod ends and an inside threaded aluminum tube/pipe for the linkage between the handbar Y clamp and the front fork Y clamp.

MRKII was designed as ASS only. MRKI had either ASS or USS. Don't know if anyone ever tried to do an aftermarket USS to the 2nd gen SRD.

Perpetually wandering and pondering.

Look @ the Fork ...  on one side of the top of it, there will be  a place you would attach the USS connecting link..

Have a Mk 1 with a Rohloff Hub    Not needed    will sell..   At my Cost  $1600, + shipping, in suitcase..

The Kit (in picture)used a Standard headset bearing pair...   A Bushing would be adequate.
every thing else, typical steel tubes and pieces they fabricated...
you could seek a fabricator  to make  something   study a lot of short wheel base recumbents for Ideas..

I recall seeing simple  ways to swing the front wheel ...    connecting bars to fork  other recumbent builders used..
