If you had ordered the SRD with USS, you could have later converted it to ASS. For the USS, there was a flange attached to the fork crown with a ‘ball & socket’ pivot point that attached to an adjustable rod which extended to the clamp-on USS steering assembly. If memory serves me correctly, the ASS did not have the piece added to the fork crown.
There are times now that I regret selling my USS SRD now that I live in the flats of Idaho and no longer in the hills of Eugene.
Hope this helps. As suggested, maybe a local fabricator could make the modifications from an ASS to USS. You might also see if BF has any old parts in their ‘boneyard’ that they could sell you, and then you do the changes.
