We have an Ever-E-Day we're taking on a tour in Europe later this summer.
The tour has a long distance day that we're afraid we can't cover with the
4, old style, Ligo's we have. We'd like to have at least one, and maybe
two more.

1. Does anyone know if it's possible to combine our old Ligos with new
Ligo 10X batteries into a power pack that will make our trip possible? The
10X batteries are available on Amazon, and shippable.

If that's not possible, we'll need to either get another old-style Ligo or
two, or sell our old ligos and buy a new set of Ligo 10X batteries.

2. Does anyone have any experience with shipping the old-style Ligo
batteries? (This wouldn't be an issue for those located within driving
distance of Menlo Park, CA.) I know that a few years ago, it was not
possible to ship them unless they were part of a whole e-bike...

3. Is anyone out there interested in selling an old Ligo battery or two?
We paid $200 for each when we purchased the bike and would offer that for a
used battery in good shape.
4. Is anyone willing to loan or rent a battery or two for us to use for
our trip? (The trip is from August 28 - October 2)
3. Is anyone be interested in buying our Ligos, asking $200 each? (Then
we could buy new 10X batteries for our trip.)

Also, does anyone know if the charger we got with the old-style ligos would
work with the new ligo 10X batteries?

Hi Scott,

The LiGo batteries are made by Grin Technologies at https://ebikes.ca. You might contact their support line for details.

I inquired a couple months ago about how to solve the problem I had with
damaged threads on the cranks of my 1997 NWT. This is follow-up.

The cranks are very"bowlegged" -- they stick out unusually far from the
frame. That is necessary so they clear the rear brake, which is at the
chainstays. I tried to find replacement cranks online which would accept
the same 74mm and 110mm chainwheels. These cranks were made for mountain
bikes, to clear the chainstays with fat tires, and I found only ones
175mm long, though my NWT's cranks are 170mm, my preference.

In the end I had the cranks repaired using Helicoil inserts. Belmont
Wheelworks here in the Boston area. did the work for $84, a good job
except that both inserts protruded slightly from the outer face of the
cranks. I was concerned that the pedals might damage them. I ground them
down level with a Dremel tool. I rode the bike yesterday and all is
well. Park Tool has a similar system for pedal-thread repair.

another scheme is a threaded tube rather than a coil of diamond square wire
threads on inside & out  thread cut in crank matched the outer threads
to same effect..
