Girls bowling defeated Bloom High School last night in a 3-game series. Beecher's total pin count was (1817) vs Bloom High School (1427). Aurora Cantu was on fire in the first game. Not only did she get a turkey (3 strikes in a row), but had her personal best game of the season (173). Mila Nikolic also had her personal best game of 117. Our top three bowlers of the event were Paityn Riechers (415); Aurora Cantu (411), and Anna Westerhoff (396). Girls face a tough Thornton squad tomorrow night at Castaway.
Girls varsity basketball entered last night’s matchup looking to make a statement against a strong Wilmington team that came in with a 13–6 record, and the Bobcats did just that with a dominant 50–36 victory. Beecher set the tone early, coming out on fire and racing to a 13–0 lead to open the game. That fast start energized the team and established control that Beecher never relinquished. While the offense jumped out early, it was Beecher’s team defense that defined the night. Throughout the contest, Beecher played stingy, disciplined defense, forcing Wilmington to earn every basket. Shots were heavily contested, passing lanes were challenged, and Wilmington was limited to mostly one shot per possession. The collective defensive effort consistently disrupted Wilmington’s rhythm and turned defense into momentum for Beecher. Balanced scoring helped Beecher maintain its advantage, with Grace Wuest, Allie Johnson, and Gianna Bonomo finishing with 11 points each. The scoring depth, combined with relentless defensive pressure, allowed Beecher to pull away and secure the statement win. With the victory, Beecher improved to 11–8 on the season, proving it can compete with and control quality opponents through effort, execution, and team defense.
