Last night the girls soccer team defeated a tough Marian Catholic team by a score of 6-2. Grace Durante led the way with 5 goals while Ava Gaidar added one of her own. The defensive efforts of Charlotte Farrar, Katie Johnston, Abby Corral, and Teagan Claus helped to keep their offense at bay. The girls return to action tonight at home against Kankakee. Game begins at 4:30pm.
Girls softball played a double-header against Illinois Lutheran yesterday and picked up another 2 wins. In game one, Ava Lorenzatti earned the win giving up only 1 hit while striking out 15 batters. Abby Papas, Liliana Irwin and Tayiah Scanlan combined for six of the team’s 11 hits in the 11-0 victory. In game two, Taylor Norkus threw a no-hitter over four innings. The Ladycats collected 13 hits in the game scoring 16 runs. We host Illiana Christian today. Game begins at 4:30pm.
The girls and boys track and field teams competed at the Tony Thorsen Invitational last night. The girls team had a strong showing, finishing 4th overall. Brooklynn Burdick led the way with a 1st-place finish in the 2-mile and a 2nd-place finish in the mile. Lanaya Kellum and Raina McKay performed well in the 400m dash, placing 3rd and 4th, respectively. Allison Sadus contributed valuable points by finishing 2nd in the 2-mile and 4th in the mile. The boys team also turned in several standout performances. Personal records were set by Adrian Sandoval and Jakob Blumenthal in the 400m, Carl Webb in both the 800m and the mile, Bradley Greer in the 2-mile, Elliot Garcia in the shot put, and Collin Malecha in the discus. Both the 4x200m and 4x800m relay teams also set new personal bests.
The track and field team is hosting a 5K Color Run and 1-mile walk this Sunday, April 27th. Check-in will begin at 12:00pm at the Junior High, and the race will start at 1:00pm. Prom tickets are being sold In Mrs. Hoekstra's room during C Lunch, Study Hall, and after school. The cost is $85 per ticket. Students are reminded that ALL outstanding fees must be paid before purchasing your ticket, and if you are bringing a guest outside BHS, a dance guest form must be approved. Guest forms are in the office. After you purchase your ticket(s), you can sign up for your table seating for the meal.
Mark your calendars - Student Council will be hosting our second BLOOD DRIVE on Wednesday, April 30. See Mrs. Segert in the office for an appointment time. A signed parental consent form is needed for 16 year old donors only. Those permission slips are in the office. Roll up your sleeve and SAVE A LIFE. It’s a good feeling and donors will receive a coupon for a pint of ice cream from Culvers.
