Last night our volleyball teams took on the HF Vikings. The JV squad clawed their way through a tough match but dropped two close sets, 25–14 and 25–22. Varsity hit the court next and battled hard, but the Vikings managed to row away with the win, 25–17 and 25–13. Even though the scoreboard didn’t land in our favor, the Bobcats showed heart, hustle, and fight… but we all know you can’t keep a Bobcat down for long. Vikings might have their boats, but Bobcats have claws… and the next time we meet, we’re ready to scratch out a different ending! Come support the ladies as they take on Crete-Monee at our ORANGE OUT game tonight. JV game begins at 5:00PM, followed by varsity at 6:00PM. Wear all orange and sit in the student section for a chance to win a prize before the varsity game!
In boys golf yesterday, Manteno visited Beecher at Lincolnshire and we saw some fireworks from the Beecher team. Senior Danny Vallos made his first eagle ever on the par 5 3rd hole and carded his best score of the year with a 42. Charlie Nowak got hot in the beginning of the round and carded three birdies in a row before falling off his pace to finish with a 41. Peyton Serafin continued his solid scoring and won medalist honors again with a score of 36 to lead the team to a convincing victory.
Yesterday girls golf also played a home match against Manteno. On a beautiful day, they brought home their first win 225-229. Kaley Zelhart continued leading the scoring with a 51, but Fiona Hagan-Storbeck got her swing back in order and shot 52. Samantha Loftin and Katy Gregory both added to the team score. We face Watseka and Grant Park tomorrow hoping to even the score against the Warriors.
Boys soccer opened their season with a bang, defeating Momence by a score of 8-0. Wences Baumgartner scored early and often tallying 5 goals and an assist. Dominic Bresnahan played the ball well earning 2 assists, while Paxton Gorcowski and Gavin Graham each assisted goals as well. Axel Avila, Jadyn Hill, Duke Doran, and Miguel Corral played lock down defense helping Brian Oldenburg earn the shutout in the net. Total team effort! JV soccer kicked their season off with a tough loss to Peotone. Stanley Detjin had a night in the goal tallying 8 saves. Jahir Campa tallied the lone Bobcat goal assisted by Dominic Camilleri.
