Dear Campus Community,

I write to announce two changes in Academic Affairs.

Koppelman School of Business Dean Qing Hu has accepted a position as the Evelyn and Gerry Cameron Endowed Dean of the School of Business at Portland State University. His last day at Brooklyn College will be July 31. Dean Hu came to us in 2020, just as the COVID pandemic started, and led the Koppelman School of Business through that unprecedented and challenging transition. Under his administration, the School of Business earned an accreditation extension from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International, the global accrediting body for business schools. While it is always difficult to see a valued colleague move on, we thank Qing for all his contributions to Brooklyn College and we wish him great success and professional satisfaction at Portland State.

Professor James A. Lynch, Chair of Management, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship, has agreed to serve as Interim Dean of the Koppelman School of Business during the 2024-25 academic year. Many thanks to James for agreeing to serve in this role.

Additionally, Associate Provost for Institutional Effectiveness Tammie Cumming has accepted a position at Baruch College, where she will serve as Associate Provost for Assessment, Accreditation, and Institutional Effectiveness. Tammie joined Brooklyn College in 2019, and her accomplishments as a chief data strategist include leading efforts in accreditation, academic assessment and departmental self-studies, center re-certification, data analytics, and survey research services. We thank Tammie for her service to Brooklyn College and know she will thrive at Baruch.

Professor Sophia Suarez has agreed to serve on an interim basis leading academic assessment at the College during the 2024-25 academic year. Many thanks to Sophia for agreeing to serve in this role.

With my gratitude and very best wishes to both Tammie Cumming and Qing Hu.

Sincerely,

April Bedford
Provost
