Hi All!

I hope you are having a great start of the semester! I wanted to share a few items i’d like you to be aware of:

  • Students can see upcoming career-related events on BC Handshake, in “Magner Event Collections”, where they can also register for them. These include both on-campus, off-campus, and online events.
  • Please encourage students to look at our online resources from BC Knowledge, as a way to get started before meeting with their Career Coach. Students can make career counseling appointments via Navigate.
  • If you’d like to request a speaker from the Magner Career Center, please use this form https://tinyurl.com/MagnerSpeakerReq.
  • Walk-in Wednesdays are great for students to meet with career coaches and get quick career questions answered. No appointments needed, 10am to 6pm (when classes are in session, Fall/Spring).
  • Fall 2025 Intern/Job Fair takes place on October 9th from 1130am to 230pm in the Student Center.

  • Brooklyn College offers a Stipend Award that allows students to get paid for unpaid internships! Students can apply here: https://tinyurl.com/bcinternstipend. The deadline for
    • Spring internships is October 31st, and Summer/Fall internships is March 31st.
  • Students can gain professional skills to make them competitive for jobs & internships through job simulations, and certifications: https://tinyurl.com/building-skills.
  • Handshake has attractive and modern user interface but doesn’t show items in a calendar view, here is a rudimentary version I created for those who’d like to see items in that format (September, I will follow in a few weeks with October).
    • Working and Busy Students have an additional touchpoint for career coaching. This Fall we have more Evening and Weekend offerings.

Be well and I will see you soon!

Sincerely,

Andre Fontenelle
