Good Afternoon,

 

CUNY Tutor Corps is hiring for the Spring Semester!

 

This is a great opportunity for students who are interested in gaining experience working with NYC high school students and love math! Please share the following with your networks.

 

CUNY Tutor Corps is looking for CUNY students who share a love of math and are looking to gain experience in a New York City Public School to work as Algebra Tutors. As an Algebra tutor you will tutor students in a New York City Public High School in person this Spring for 12-15 hours per week for $20 per hour.  We are asking all tutors to be available to work in schools during the school day at least 3 days per week. Work at schools begins in late January and runs through June. All tutors must be available to attend training that will occur the week of  January 22nd.

 

Eligibility: 

  • A current CUNY student. 
  • Have taken 2 math or science classes in the last two years
  • 3.00 G.P.A. or above
  • Preferred math tutoring experience
  • Preferred completed 12 STEM and/or education credits.
  • Recommend have taken Pre-Calculus or above

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Work one on one and in small groups with Algebra students in a school setting
  • Build strong near-peer mentor relationships
  • Develop a tutoring plan to match unique student needs
  • Maintain a record of tutoring progress and sessions in our program database

 

Core Competencies: 

  • Passionate about working with young people 
  • Positive attitude 
  • Knowledge of Algebra 
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and implement multiple projects and assignments 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
