DOE Schools Tech Support Internship 2026 - 2027 Application Now Open

 

The DOE Schools Tech Support Internship Program is a paid opportunity that gives CUNY students meaningful, hands-on experience within the New York City Department of Education.

 

Through this program, eligible CUNY students work in DOE public schools and central offices, contributing to impactful projects that directly improve the daily lives of New Yorkers across all five boroughs. Across a broad range of IT and technology roles, students gain real-world professional experience, build critical workplace skills, and expand their professional networks.

DOE Schools Tech Support Internship Details

Internship Period: October 5, 2026 – June 25, 2027

Pay Rate: $20.00 hourly rate
Work Hours: 15 hours per week
Location: In-person role at a public school across the five NYC boroughs

Tasks/Responsibilities:

·         Website Accessibility: Depending on need, the intern can be responsible for DOE School website modifications, website creation, and general maintenance.

·         Online Support: The intern will be a technology point of contact, assisting and troubleshooting tech-related issues for school administration, teachers, and students.

·         Data Tracking: Manage and upkeep data tracking systems, including technology equipment tracking, ATS, and others as needed. Help manage virtual attendance logs, creating online systems via Google Forms/Microsoft Sheets.

·         Tech Resource Assistance: Create or maintain tech resource lists for admin, teachers, and students.

·         Tech Set-up: Assist in the setup of new computer equipment in classrooms and offices, and install the software. Ensure that LCD projectors, smart boards, and other related audio/video equipment are functioning.

·         Troubleshoot hardware and software problems. Configure wireless devices to access the DOE network onsite.

·         Maintain classroom servers and technology equipment inventory.

·         Monitor equipment and work with the Help Center to ensure timely repair.

·         Assist with the use of technology equipment.

CIP Eligibility Requirements

·         Must be a currently matriculated CUNY student in Fall 2026 and Spring 2027

·         Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

·         Minimum GPA of 2.5
