Robert's Rules only allow us to address the topic for which the meeting was called. Thus, regular agenda items will be deferred until next month's meeting on November 18th when Dr Aicher will also be presenting on "Copper Associated Disease in Dogs" and her next research initiative.

HRC Discussion Progress:
-The Board received a letter of inquiry about seeking to offer HRC Hunt Tests again through BCSRC.
-The Board authorized a Committee to assess interest.
-They did so, many of you participated, and now there is a report of their findings.
-This report was shared with the Board. The Board unanimously agreed that the report should be shared with the general membership and a special meeting called to consider reinstatement of our HRC status.
- Of note, the Board DID NOT VOTE TO APPROVE OR DENY the request, that will come from the general membership meeting vote on October 28th at 6:30 at C&J.

Out of an abundance of care for our club’s future, I want to share a candid reflection. While we celebrate 40 years of camaraderie, hunt test fun, and shared passion in the retriever world—and I’m honored to serve following the footsteps of remarkable leaders—we must be clear-eyed about what it takes to sustain that legacy.
We cannot move forward with HRC tests without additional commitments. The reality is, many of us who’ve been “mules pulling the heavy wagon” are tired. I include myself in that. As an owner-handler of eight HRCH dogs, I deeply enjoy this sport and would love to see more opportunities locally. But I also recognize that enthusiasm alone isn’t enough—we must protect the integrity and sustainability of our club by not overextending the few who are carrying the load.
This isn’t a warning—it’s an invitation. If we want to keep the momentum going, we will need more help.
